Blossfeldt's 'Plant Study Archetypes of Art' series features photogravures that uncover intricate natural art forms. Born in 1865 in Schielo, Germany, he used a special magnifying camera to create these works. Trained in illustration at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Berlin, Blossfeldt's photography has been showcased in major exhibitions worldwide, including at Deichtorhallen, Hamburg (1993); International Center of Photography, New York City (1998); Fotomuseum Winterthur, Switzerland (2000); and Centre d'Art la Panera, Spain (2006). He passed away in 1932 in Berlin.
